DIRECTIONS

Whispering Cove Retreat is in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Google maps and GPS are unable to pick up the retreat’s address. We have written specific directions from airports or locations from which you are traveling. If you have a GPS, you can enter the address below which will lead you to Woodfin Road at the bottom of the mountain. From there, follow the last part of any of the directions listed below.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE FROM KNOXVILLE, TN

  1. From Knoxville, TN get on Interstate I-40 East towards Asheville, NC. You will travel about 1 ½ hours east of Knoxville, TN on I-40 East.
  2. From I-40, take exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  3. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.
  4. Take a right turn on Woodfin Road about 2 miles past The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp.  You’ll see mile marker 93 and then a black fire engine on a yellow sign just before you turn right on Woodfin Road. At this turn, you’ll see Balsam Automotive and Balsam Willets Ochre Hill Fire Department.
  5. Go about 500 yards.  Turn right on Icicle Ridge Road, a gravel road. Follow the road about .9 miles until you come to the entrance gate of Whispering Cove. Come through the gate  and up the hill. Do not take the first left but stay straight. You will pass the pond and meadow and come to the orchard on your right hand side. At the orchard, make a left hand turn and follow the road to the lodge.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE FROM ASHEVILLE AIRPORT

  1. Take a left at the light when you exit the airport. Go about ½ mile and get into left lane to turn onto Interstate I-26 North. Stay on Interstate I-26 North for about 15 miles until it intersects Interstate I-40.Get into the left lane and take I-40 West towards Knoxville, TN. You will travel about 35 miles west of Asheville, NC on I-40 West.
  2. From I-40, take exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  3. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.

  1. From Asheville, NC get on Interstate I-40 West towards Knoxville, TN. You will travel about 35 miles west of Asheville, NC on I-40 West.
  2. From I-40, take exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  3. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE RETREAT FROM ATLANTA/HARTSFIELD AIRPORT

  1. From the Atlanta airport get on Interstate I-85 North towards downtown Atlanta.  I-85 will connect with I-75 through downtown Atlanta.
  2. On the north side of town, I-75 and I-85 split again. Take I-85 North/East towards Gainesville.
  3. From I-85, exit onto Hwy 985 North (Atlanta Gainesville Hwy). Hwy 985 will turn into  Hwy 441. Stay on  Hwy 441 through Clayton, GA, Dillard, GA, and Franklin, NC.
  4. Hwy 441 will intersect Hwy 23/74 at Dillsboro, NC. Take a right onto Hwy 23/74 towards Waynesville, NC. Continue on for aprox 11 miles.
  5. Turn left on Woodfin Road. Prior to your left hand turn, you will see a black fire engine on a yellow sign and then mile marker 92 just before you turn left on Woodfin Road. At this turn, you’ll see Balsam Automotive and Balsam Willets Ochre Hill Fire Department.
  6. Go about 500 yards.  Turn right on Icicle Ridge Road, a gravel road. Follow the road about .9 miles until you come to the entrance gate of Whispering Cove. Come through the gate  and up the hill. Do not take the first left but stay straight. You will pass the pond and meadow and come to the orchard on your right hand side. At the orchard, make a left hand turn and follow the road to the lodge.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE FROM CHARLOTTE-DOUGLAS AIRPORT

  1. From the Charlotte airport get on Billy Graham Parkway (521) North until it intersects   Interstate I-85. Take I-85 South/West towards Gastonia/Spartanburg.
  2. From I-85 at Gastonia take Hwy 321 North towards Hickory, NC. Hwy 321 intersects Interstate I-40.
  3. Take I-40 West towards Asheville, NC/Knoxville, TN. You will be on I-40 West for about 100 miles until you get off at exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  4. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE RETREAT FROM GREENVILLE/SPARTANBURG AIRPORT

  1. From the airport take Interstate I-85 North/East towards Sartanburg, SC. I-85 intersects with Interstate I-26. Take I-26 North towards Asheville, NC.
  2. Stay on Interstate I-26 North for about 55 miles until it intersects Interstate I-40 in Asheville, NC. Get into the left lane and take I-40 West towards Knoxville, TN. You will travel about 35 miles west of Asheville, NC on I-40 West.
  3. From I-40, take exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  4. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.

DIRECTIONS TO WHISPERING COVE FROM JOHNSON CITY, TN

  1. From Johnson City, TN get on Interstate I-26 South towards Asheville, NC. Stay on I-26 until it intersects I-40 in Asheville, NC.
  2. Take I-40 West towards Knoxville, TN. You will travel about 35 miles outside Asheville, NC on I-40 West.
  3. From I-40, take exit 27 onto (Hwy 19, 23, 74). It is about 17 miles to Whispering Cove from exit 27.
  4. Stay straight on (Hwy 19, 23, 74 for about 15 miles until you make a right turn on Woodfin Road. You will pass the city of Waynesville, a rest area on your left hand side, and The Blue Ridge Parkway on ramp on your right hand side.
